The Frontier of Civil, Human and Migrant Rights

We live in very uncertain times. Well, if you study history, people around the world have always been living in uncertain times. But just because we have always lived with it, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t do anything about it.

Some people are always stepping up and fighting prejudice and injustice in the world, and this is no different from the members of the Frontera Fund, one of the most influential supporters of lawyers and attorneys in the United States.

During this another era of uncertain times where unpredictable people become leaders of the world, and the complex political changes affect the people, we need civil, human and migrant rights groups more. There’s the refugee crisis in the Middle East and Europe. People pray upon helpless people, children, and women, and their only real hope is organizations like Amnesty International or Human Rights Watch to organize donations, raise awareness of their plight so that their chance of survival becomes higher.

There is also the Rohingya Muslim refugee crisis from Myanmar to Bangladesh. Maybe it is true that no one in Myanmar wants the Rohingya Muslims to be in there, but it is also true that they are women and most of them are innocent women and children who are just trying to live their daily lives the best we can.

And this is why we need to be aware and fight for our civil, human and migrant rights. Among the frontier of this battle is Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund. Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin are the two entrepreneurs responsible for the creation of this funding institution, and they are also the co-founders of Phoenix New Times and Village Voice Media, two other essential brands.

The money that was used for funding in the Frontera Fund was acquired from a settlement money from the arrest the duo suffered in 2007. The two entrepreneurs, journalists, and investigators were apprehended in a night, October 18th, because of their case on a sheriff named Joe Arpaio, from the small county of Maricopa.

The Frontera Fund has helped so many human and civil rights groups fight prejudice and injustice, while maintaining their identity and autonomy. The Frontera Fund, because of their intense support, is responsible for saving many cases in the U.S. that otherwise could not have been possible.

Lacey and Larkin have always shown that when it comes to human, civil and migrant rights, they will always help with all their heart because it is also their passion to defend these fundamental rights.
