Business Pioneer Susan McGalla Blazes A Trail For Female Executives

Despite the fact that companies with ethnic and gender diversity are statistically likely to surpass businesses that lack it, there is an unfortunate lack of women who hold positions of power at S&P 500 companies. One of the outliers is high level businesswoman Susan McGalla, a trailblazer who fought hard to establish herself within a variety of organizations. She is a courageous, powerful figure, who has served as a massive inspiration for aspiring women leaders around the globe. Unfortunately, many women still struggle in the workplace. While Women Leadership Initiatives have proven to be helpful in some ways, men continue to hold the majority of senior positions at companies globally. If the solution had already been discovered, there would be far more women occupying these powerful jobs. Many have argued that the answer lies in sponsorship opportunities, which generates an overall motivation for people to invest in female executives looking for high-level positions.

Today, Susan McGalla calls Pittsburg, Pennsylvania home, but she hails from East Liverpool, Ohio. Raised in a home with only male siblings and a football coach for a dad, Susan McGalla was treated just like her brothers. She earned BA in business and marketing at Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio. Her earliest work revolved largely around marketing. Prior to American Eagle, McGalla held several positions at Joseph Horne Company. Her first job with American Eagle was as a merchandise buyer. It wasn’t long before she became the CMO and then president.

Since then, she’s become the Vice President of Business Strategy and Creative Development for the Pittsburg Steelers. Additionally, she started her own company, P3 Executive Consulting. Susan McGalla is a force to be reckoned with. Her rise to success is as inspirational a story as any, and her performance as a high-level executive is unparalleled.
